"For the past five-plus years, I have been grateful that my company, HSB, and my manager, Lee Fincher, have afforded me the opportunity to actively engage in industry events/organizations such as PAMIC.
My participation in the PAMIC Educational Committee has provided me with the opportunity to learn firsthand about the needs of the member mutual companies through the eyes of their leaders. It is great to see the process play out. Idea gathering, debating the pros/cons of various subjects and finding the right speaker to make a presentation on a subject brings out the passion of committee members. Our meetings are interactive and one can feel the enthusiasm the whole group shares as we work to find the best speakers for our fellow PAMIC members.
As an audience member I really enjoy hearing the presentations. The details delivered by the informative speakers help me to understand emerging industry risks in greater detail. Topics relevant to the success of all PAMIC members and may not be the focus of our daily lives (state-specific legislation, working with colleagues of all ages and protecting your identity spring to mind) have all been well packaged and delivered by experts on the subject matter.
On a personal note, the most important thing I have taken form serving on this committee over the last five years is the personal relationships I have developed. It is nice to be able to take a step back and just spend time with people when we are away from our everyday jobs to focus our energy on providing interesting programs for the membership. PAMIC has been, is now, and will always be made up of great people. I have been proud to work with many of them on this committee and look forward to many more good years.
